Polypropylene or P/P is a very economic acid and chemical resistant engineering thermoplastic which has a multitude of uses.
You will have most certainly come across this engineering plastic at some stage. First introduced in 1957, P/P fits the bill as a relatively economical and very versatile thermoplastic.
Its array of applications is exceptional and is often found in cladding and for lining of chemical tanks and where durability is needed.
Polypropylene is not only lightweight but has high tensile strength and impact resistance. It is also very resilient to strong acid and chemical assault.
Polypropylene is an excellent engineering plastic for fabrication and although very difficult to bond, it can be welded as well as spin welded and fusion butt welded. It is also well suited to manufacturing and vacuum forming.
Polypropylene can be purchased online in numerous sizes, in rod or sheet. The round bar can be bought in diameters ranging from 10mm up to 300mm. The sheets range from 1mm thick up to 50mm. Polypropylene or P/P is generally available in black or natural.
