Long term typically means between 5,000 and 20,000 hours operating at this temperature without losing more than 50% of its performance. Short term typically means upto 2 hours at any one time.
Nylon 6.6 has a 6% higher operating temperature, is 13% harder, 10% more rigid and has a tensile strength that is 8% greater. Nylon 6 on the other hand has a greater size range but the main difference is it can be around 30% cheaper.
They are equally excellent at machining but Acetal has a better chemical resistance, where as Delrin has better wear resistance, is stronger and is tougher.
These tips are basic and designed as a guide or starting point only.
- Razor sharp high speed steel tools
- Tools to have plenty of rake
- Try lower speed with higher feed
- Try and use coolant
- Maybe place in a freezer overnight
