Delivery Information
Many of our materials are large or heavy, so we use specialised carriers to help ensure your order arrives in perfect condition. Smaller orders are sent via DPD . All our carriers are multi-drop that are unable to call before delivery. Most deliveries arrive Monday–Friday* between 8.00am and 6.00pm. We cannot provide a precise estimated time of arrival for courier or pallet deliveries. If a delay is likely, we will do our utmost to contact you in advance.
*Excluding bank holidays.
All pallet deliveries are kerbside drops and require at least two able-bodied people to offload. Drivers are not insured to carry goods into your premises or onto site. Smaller orders are usually delivered to your door.
Please check your order carefully as soon as it arrives and before signing the delivery note. Don’t worry if the driver is in a rush — if anything looks damaged or is missing, note it clearly on the delivery document and sign as “DAMAGED”. This is important — we cannot offer a replacement or refund if the delivery is signed for as complete and in good condition. Once damage is logged, we will happily arrange a replacement. If you prefer a refund instead, we will process it within 7 working days of receiving the items back.
Missed deliveries may incur a re-delivery charge. Please also tell us about any restricted access (size, weight, parking or vehicle limitations) when you place your order, as failed deliveries due to access issues will incur a re-delivery charge. Goods refused at delivery that are later found undamaged will be charged for return to the warehouse.
Although we use reliable carriers, unforeseen circumstances such as traffic or weather can occasionally affect delivery times. We therefore strongly recommend waiting until your goods have arrived and been checked before booking installers or scheduling work. We cannot accept liability for any consequential loss caused by late deliveries. The same applies to next-day deliveries — if an order does not arrive on the stated day for unforeseen reasons, no refund of the delivery charge will be given.
Returns & Cancellations
Our helpful team are on hand to support with any queries. Please use the Live Chat, call us on 0114 256 0889, message us on WhatsApp 07894 395077, or email sales@directplastics.co.uk as soon as you can to discuss returns and cancellations.
Changed your mind? No problem. You can return your order within 28 days of purchase provided the items are still in perfect, resalable condition. Please contact us first so we can send you a returns form / authorisation. Customers are responsible for the cost and arrangement of return shipping. Once your return arrives and passes a quality check, we’ll sort everything for you.
Before use or installation, please inspect your goods thoroughly to confirm they match your order and that you are happy with the quality. Once materials have been cut, machined or installed, claims for incorrect goods cannot normally be accepted.
If you have any questions regarding delivery before or after your purchase, please contact us via Live Chat, Phone, WhatsApp or Email and we will be happy to help.

Our price is for the total amount of pieces your entire order needs to be cut into:
For Example
- Buy 1 sheet/rod and have it cut into 15 pieces = £10
- Buy 3 sheets/rods and have each one cut into say 5 pieces (total = 15 pieces) = £10
What to do:
- Click the "Cutting" tab in our menu to visit the cutting section (if you're not already there)
- Click the "Buy Now" button of whichever quantity corresponds to your needs
- See bottom of this page, on how to advise your sizes and any notes
Want more than 300 pieces?
Please give our sales team a call on 0114 2560889
Notes/tips:
- Please allow at least 4mm in your cutting allowance calculations for the width of the saw cut
- We use table saws and horizontal band-saws, so edges will have a sawn finish
- We only use sawing equipment, so we are unable to offer high precision items
- Tolerances are +2mm to minus 0mm
- We aim to cut as squarely as possible although incoming materials are sometimes out of square
- We are unable to cut or machine shapes but we are happy to obtain a custom quotation for machined
shapes or parts (please call us on 0114 2560889)
How to advise your sizes:
- Please checkout your basket/cart
- Fill in your details as usual on the checkout page
- At section 5 of our checkout page, there's a "customer notes" box for you
- Please enter your sizes and any notes for us there
Nylon 6 Sheet Tolerances
Manufacturers produce engineering plastics that are slightly oversize in either diameter and/or thickness.
This oversize tolerance, which is listed in the tables below, is provided to assist customers to produce
very accurate items within the size shown and remove any minor surface imperfection.

If for example you were looking to make a wear block, jig or fixture, the first material you would look at is Nylon 6 Sheet. It's readily available in a huge range of sizes off the shelf even up to 100mm thick but can be made much thicker if needed. If you did choose Nylon 6 Sheet or block, you would find that it will machine pretty easily with the right tooling. This doesn't mean some dull cutter left in the machine from a previous metal job, but a nice sharp, well shaped smoothing type tool with coolant will help your Nylon 6 Sheet machine very nicely.
Drilling, tapping and boring of Nylon 6 Sheet is all fairly straight forward with those sharp tools we mentioned earlier, but remember to keep the heat down, Nylon 6 Sheet as with most engineering plastics can overheat during the machining process and result in a poor surface finish.
If your components need to have a high resistance to wear and friction, Nylon 6 Sheet provided it better than most. Nylon 6 Sheet will last for years in harsh conditions with very little maintenance providing a reliable and much more economical solution to materials such as Bronze or Brass.
What has also been commented in the past is that Nylon 6 Sheet will often be less noisy in operation; Nylon gears for example reduce noise dramatically and will outlast most other materials. In the event of a catastrophic, the Nylon gear can almost be there as a sacrificial component to prevent more serious and more expensive damage.
